Anthony Weiner has announced he will run for New York City mayor. He joins a crowded field for one of the top mayoral positions in the U.S.  He now officially begins a comeback from the scandal that forced him to resign from the U.S. House of Representatives.

Following weeks of speculation, Weiner made his candidacy official by releasing a YouTube video. In the video, Weiner says he made big mistakes and let a number of people down. However, he said he learned tough lessons from his bad decisions. Weiner said he was running for NYC mayor because he has been fighting his entire life for middle class taxpayers and those that struggle to hang on.

Huma Abedin, his wife and a former New York City Councilwoman, who also was a top aide for Hillary Clinton, while Clinton was the secretary of state, is in a family scene with their young son.

Abedin is later seen sitting at her husband’s side and she says they love the city and no one will work hard than Anthony to make the city better.

Weiner, in 2001, accidently sent photos of his crotch to all of his followers on Twitter. He claimed his Twitter account had been hacked. However, later he admitted he had, had inappropriate relationships online with a number of women. That June Weiner resigned from the House.

Weiner maintained a low profile following the events, but he recently signaled a possible return to politics. He granted an interview in the New York Times Magazine, during which he and his wife spoke about the scandal.
